Our Programmes

“These words reveal the child’s inner needs: ‘Help me do it myself.’”
- Maria Montessori
At the Montessori School of Cayman, we offer both Toddler and Casa Programmes. Our Toddler programme is for children aged 18mths-3yrs and our Casa programme is for children aged 3yrs-6yrs. Within the Casa class, we now offer a Kindergarten programme for children up to age 6.
First Steps Towards Independence
Very young children have an innate desire to take care of their own needs. We see the child as an individual, allowing him or her to set their own pace in pursuit of independence. Key components of a successful Toddler and Casa programme includes a prepared environment, meaningful activity, and collaboration between parents and teachers.
The Prepared Environment
Our learning environments are carefully designed to meet the physical needs of the children, both in the size of the furnishings and in the opportunities for motor development. Areas of learning are defined, yet the space is open to allow plenty of room for social interaction and activities required for growth and development. Low shelves feature carefully chosen activities that encourage language development, art, music, and manipulative play.
Areas of Learning
The Montessori curriculum is made up of six key areas of learning; art, culture, literacy, mathematics, practical life,
and sensorial.
Engaging, Meaningful Activity
We are committed to providing our students with engaging, meaningful activities which:
-
provide experiences that stimulate the senses;
-
enrich the child's vocabulary and understanding of language;
-
provide time for the child to repeat and master activities as long as it is productive. which allows the child to develop their concentration;
-
teach our children how to use tools in a specific environment such as eating utensils, brooms, sponges, etc.; and,
-
give children the opportunity to gain a sense of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence.
